This painting was created to raise awareness about taking care of our ocean and coral reefs. It depicts an abstracted coral reef beneath passing waves, shown by painterly gestures. This is a very playful and experimental piece; it has many layers and displays multitudes of different painting techniques within one work. There are highly sculptural globules of oil paint used to bring dimensionality to the reef, along with extruded paint. Paint has been stamped, scraped away, carved into, applied in thin washes, and in opaque blocks of color.

The canvas measures 36” x 30”, and is currently framed in a grey-brown wood textured floating frame (Total dimensions with frame: 38” x 32”)
